Digital Lab Journal: Biomedical Science Meets Google

Digital Lab Journal: Biomedical Science Meets Google

Jeanine Hall is a Principles of Biomedical Science (PBS) Master Teacher at Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose, New York. She holds an M.S. Ed, Adolescent Biology and an M.S. Ed, School Administration. Jeanine is an avid equestrian.

Hendrick Hudson High School's PLTW Biomedical Science students have found ways to move the lab journals used throughout the program into Google.

We organize the Google Drive by unit, including a special section for Anna Garcia. The students name each lesson in a particular way and include the use of the Header, especially important in collaborative work. Students use the Revision History and Comments features extensively, particularly when doing group work and giving and receiving feedback. Students also take pictures of their projects, drawings, presentations, and class trips to keep in these Digital Lab Journals. All of Google's products are kept in these folders, so work is organized and easily accessible from virtually anywhere, so they can study on the go.

Students no longer worry about losing work (or a binder) and are able to seamlessly take these digital portfolios with them to college. It's a win-win for HenHud students!

PLTW’s blog is intended to serve as a forum for ideas and perspectives from across our network. The opinions expressed are those of each guest author.
