PLTW Appoints New Chairman of the Board of Directors

Indianapolis, Ind.—Project Lead The Way (PLTW) announced today the retirement of PLTW Board Chairman Frank Zaffino and the appointment of Kurt Liebich, current PLTW Board Member and former President and CEO of RedBuilt LLC, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the nation’s leading provider of transformative learning experiences for PreK-12 students across the U.S.  Liebich assumed his new role on October 2. 

“Frank has been a tremendous leader of our Board of Directors and has dedicated over two decades to our organization.  The legacy Frank leaves behind is in great hands as Kurt has long been a champion of PLTW and it was his family foundation which funded the formation of our organization almost a quarter of a century ago,” said Dr. Vince Bertram, PLTW President and CEO. “I’m confident under Kurt’s leadership, he will help in driving our organization to new heights and transformation in classrooms across America.

Prior to joining RedBuilt and Wood Resources, Liebich served on the executive management team for the Weyerhaeuser Corporation. Liebich is also an operating partner of Atlas Holdings.  In addition to PLTW, Liebich serves on the boards of RedBuilt, New Wood Resources, Idaho State Board of Education, and Huber Engineered Wood. Liebich graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Bowdoin College and received a Master of Business administration from Harvard University.
