Russell Career Center Students Compete in SkillsUSA

Students from the G. Frank Russell Career Center recently competed in the 2010 SkillsUSA Championship in Greenville at the Carolina First Center and Greenville Technical College.

Blake McIntire placed first in the Machine Tool Division and received a prize package of machinist tools from MSC Industrial Supply. Blake will represent Greenwood and South Carolina at the 46th Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Kansas City June 21 - 25.

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) sent their Engineering Design and Development team to the South Carolina SkillsUSA event and placed 2nd. Item Southeast donated materials for the team’s pool table.

Samantha Young competed at the South Carolina SkillsUSA in the Cosmetology Division and placed 3rd. Samantha received a prize basket from Smart Styles.

Michael Quarles, a Carpentry student, competed at the South Carolina SkillsUSA and placed third. Michael also received a prize package of tools from IRWIN.
