PLTW Announces Promotions to Executive Leadership Team

Indianapolis, IN – Project Lead The Way (PLTW) today announced the promotion and addition of three key leaders to PLTW’s Executive Leadership Team. The strategic appointments will play a key role in supporting PLTW’s growth and strategic vision to increase access and unlock the potential of millions of PreK-12 students and their teachers across the U.S.

Leah Brown has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer leading the organization’s customer-centric values and customer success initiatives to ensure PLTW is delivering optimized and personalized customer experiences. She is responsible for communications, marketing, events, and network development. Brown previously served as PLTW’s Senior Vice President of Engagement leading customer growth and success strategies to increase student access and engagement while driving retention. Prior to PLTW, she served as Managing Director of Growth and Strategic Investments at AES, a global energy company, where she also previously served as Chief of Staff to the AES U.S. Strategic Business Unit President and as Director of Customer Services for the AES U.S. Utilities. Brown holds a Master of Science in Administration with a concentration in human resources from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Applied Science at Davenport University.

Sam Cox has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operations and Logistics Officer leading the organization’s strong alignment between the supply chain and service delivery functions, including Business Operations, Training Operations, and Office Logistics. Since 2006, Cox has held several leadership roles during his tenure at PLTW in the areas of Operations, Partnerships, Engagement, and Programs. Cox is a lifelong educator and has a passion for playing a role in the development of the talent pipeline. Prior to PLTW, he served as a teacher who facilitated several PLTW courses to students in Indiana and trained new PLTW teachers across the U.S. while working with local community leaders and school leadership to provide the best learning experiences for students in his classroom. Cox holds a Master of Business and Operational Excellence from The Ohio State University, a Bachelor of Science in Technology Education from Indiana State University, and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Purdue University.

Matt Voors has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and Compliance Officer leading the legal, compliance, and information security operations for PLTW. Voors advises on legal and compliance strategies and provides counsel and tactical cross-functional thought partnership to support PLTW’s mission. He manages PLTW’s general legal and litigation matters, contractual and regulatory compliance, and PLTW’s Information Security Team, which was instrumental in the organization’s successful efforts to obtain ISO 27001 certification in 2021. Prior to joining PLTW, Voors practiced at Frost Brown Todd in the firm’s business and construction litigation practice groups and represented national, regional, and local clients in litigation, regulatory compliance, and contract and commercial matters. Following his time in private practice, he served the State of Indiana as the Executive Director of the Indiana State Board of Education, General Counsel for the Indiana Department of Education, Senate Majority Counsel for the Indiana State Senate, and Chief Legal Counsel for the Indiana Department of Transportation. Voors earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana.
