Pike Central H.S. to Receive National, State Honors

PETERSBURG, Ind. - Students and teachers from Petersburg’s Pike Central High School will receive national and state honors during an award ceremony at the school on Wednesday. Project Lead The Way’s Midwest Region and National Director Terri Schulz, as well as Indiana State Representative Mark Messmer, will present the awards at 12:30 EST.

PLTW recently named Pike Central High School as one of its 16 Model Schools, a highly coveted annual award. This honor signifies Pike Central’s role as a model for other schools throughout the country on how to use the PLTW program to best meet the needs of both the students and the community. More than 50 percent of the overall student population at PCHS is enrolled in PLTW courses. Schulz will present the plaque to PLTW Biomedical Sciences instructors Lori Richardson and Jodie Elkins and Engineering instructor Ray Niehaus.

Wednesday also happens to be National Engineering Day, an appropriate day for Indiana State Representative Mark Messmer to present Niehaus and the engineering students with a resolution from the Indiana Statehouse, recognizing their recent achievements at the White House.
