Design Process: From Concept to Classroom
PLTW Algebra 1 Advantage was developed to address challenges in Algebra 1 education. Through a comprehensive, data-driven process, our research revealed that up to 89% of educators find their students struggle with Algebra 1. In response, we partnered with design thinking experts to create an innovative supplemental program that addresses gaps in student math achievement.
Using research, in-depth interviews, and a survey involving over 500 educators, we generated concepts and refined ideas for PLTW Algebra 1 Advantage. Through educator and student feedback, along with rigorous testing in real educational environments, we leveraged an iterative process to ensure this new offering effectively addresses the identified gaps in Algebra 1 education. The result is a thoroughly evaluated, practical, and engaging supplemental program that can be implemented anytime throughout the year to enhance Algebra 1 learning and empower educators and students in their mathematical journey.
