IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — The BEA Applied STEM Institute at College of Eastern Idaho (CEI) has partnered with Project Lead The Way (PLTW) to expand access to engineering, advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity pathways for students across eastern Idaho.

PLTW is an organization dedicated to preparing PreK–12 students for careers, college and life through hands-on curriculum. The partnership will provide funding assistance, professional development and implementation support to school districts interested in expanding science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities.

"This partnership represents an incredible opportunity to transform STEM education across Eastern Idaho," said Mary Stephenson, Associate Vice President of K-14 and Rural Initiatives at CEI. "By combining the proven curriculum and teacher support of Project Lead The Way with the resources and regional connections of the BEA Applied STEM Institute, we can help schools create meaningful, career-connected learning experiences that inspire students and build the workforce our communities and industries need for the future."

To introduce the partnership, the institute will host a Regional STEM Transform Showcase Event at CEI on Nov. 18. Educators, school leaders, industry partners and community members are invited to experience PLTW coursework in action and learn how these programs can prepare students for high-demand careers. Afternoon and evening sessions will be offered.

"Strong STEM education starts with giving students meaningful opportunities to explore, solve problems, and see where their learning can take them,” said Dr. David Dimmett, President and CEO of Project Lead The Way. “Through our partnership with the BEA Applied STEM Institute, more students across Eastern Idaho will have hands-on learning experiences in engineering, advanced manufacturing, and cybersecurity. By supporting educators and connecting schools with local industry, we’re helping students build the skills and confidence to shape their own futures and the region’s."
