The Tech Challenge California The Tech Challenge invites teams of students in Grades 4-12 to use the engineering design process to solve a real-world problem. Participants spend months collaborating and becoming deeply engaged in the challenge while documenting their progress and designs. The program culminates in an inspiring two-day showcase in May where teams put their solutions to the test in front of judges. There are many ways to get from here to there and back again. Some vehicles are powered by gasoline, electricity, hydrogen or even solar. In this year’s Challenge, teams will use gravity to power their devices. Indiana University Indianapolis Indiana Students can earn college credit by completing Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences courses (PBS, HMS, BI and MI) and AP Credit for completing PLTW CS-A and CSP computer science courses. Upon completion of the biomedical sciences coursework, you will receive a course completion certification via email. AP credit for computer science courses is awarded based on the scores earned on the AP exams. As a beginning IUPUI student, you can request credit for this completed coursework during your first semester. Please note that this is not dual credit offered in high school, but college credit, once enrolled at IUPUI. Applicants must be a full-time Indiana resident pursing a degree from an ABET-accredited institution in Indiana. MassBay Community College-College Credit Massachusetts Students who have completed Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum at their high schools may be eligible for credit for prior learning through articulation agreements. Students must present an official high school transcript documenting completion of the program to the Admissions Office at admissions@massbay.edu. Invention Convention Competitions Nationwide Invention education programs like Invention Convention Worldwide (ICW) offer an interdisciplinary approach to real-world problem-solving that prepares students to thrive in life beyond the classroom. ICW integrates alongside PLTW curriculum, aligning with the PLTW approach to prepare students to discover and explore interests, imagine and design solutions to real-world challenges, and become independent, confident problem-solvers. ICW offers PLTW participants the opportunity to present their Design Challenge or Capstone projects at state or regional Invention Convention competitions, with a chance of being promoted to the annual Invention Convention U.S. Nationals event held at The Henry Ford. Society for Science STEM Research Grants Tennessee STEM Research Grants provide support to teachers engaging their students in grades 6 – 12 in authentic scientific research.
