INDIANAPOLIS (May 3, 2013) – During its annual awards banquet in front of over 1,200 attendees, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce announced Project Lead The Way (PLTW) as the #3 place to work in Indiana. In presenting the award, Inside INdiana Business Host Gerry Dick cited PLTW's generous employee benefits, including 20 days of paid-time off in addition to a week-long break around the holidays, 100% employer-paid healthcare premiums, and a commitment to professional development, including Lean training for all employees. It is the first year for PLTW to be named to the Best Places to Work in Indiana list; PLTW moved its headquarters to Indianapolis in November 2011.

Each year, the Best Companies Group, in partnership with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Indiana State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, accepts hundreds of applications from Indiana companies. A two-part, intensive selection process follows, during which the committee evaluates each company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics, along with an employee survey to measure employee experience. The company survey was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation, and the employee survey was worth approximately 75%. Over 90% of PLTW employees completed this survey. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

One hundred companies are recognized across four categories. 33 Small-sized companies (15-74 US employees) 28 Medium-sized companies (75-249 US employees) 17 Large-sized companies (250-999 US employees) 22 Major-sized companies (1,000+ US employees)

With approximately 100 employees, PLTW was just one of 28 medium-sized companies recognized.

“This is an extraordinary honor, but one that was earned due to our employees’ tireless, selfless, and collaborative efforts,” said PLTW President and CEO Dr. Vince Bertram. “I am honored to work every day with such outstanding people toward our mission of preparing America’s students for the global economy.”

The Best Places to Work in Indiana awards program was created in 2006 to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Indiana, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce, and businesses.

PLTW is the nation’s leading provider of rigorous, in-school science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum. The organization designs and writes curricular programs for middle and high schools, trains teachers in its high-quality professional development approach, and has numerous partnerships with education, business, and civic organizations. While students are at PLTW’s core mission, the award reflects PLTW’s employee-focused culture.
