As a general fundraising rule, it is much easier – and you are more likely to be successful – when you build long-lasting relationships with existing supporters, rather than constantly bringing on a revolving cast of new short-term partners.

Below, we’ve outlined some tips to help build long-term relationships with your corporate partners.

1. Ask the company to join your PLTW Partnership Team.

A PLTW Partnership Team links a school's PLTW programs to the community, the local economy, and local industry needs. A partnership team is a group of collaborative stakeholders that provides leadership to support and enhance exceptional student learning experiences. To learn more about how you can establish and grow a local partnership team, check out the PLTW Partnership Team Guide.

2. Recognize them publicly.

Support from companies is more likely to continue if they feel that you appreciate their investments. Look for ways to mention their support at school board meetings and school events. Consider displaying a banner featuring your partner(s) at your school. You may also want to thank them in your school newsletter and on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

3. Share your students' achievements.

Let your partners know how their support has helped students and teachers. Share videos, pictures, and/or thank-you notes to express your appreciation.

Remember: Working with community partners is a privilege. Work hard to maintain your relationships on a regular basis – not only when you need something – to ensure all parties make the most of your partnership.
