Sam Cox Joins PLTW

Project Lead The Way is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Cox to its national curriculum development staff in October as an Associate Director of K-12 Engineering Curriculum.

Sam has been teaching PLTW courses at Lafayette School Corporation in Indiana, and has been a PLTW Master Teacher for three years.  He has also worked as a consultant for PLTW as a curriculum and assessment author for the recent Introduction to Engineering Design revision. He has presented on PLTW topics at various professional conferences in Missouri, Illinois, Nebraska, and Indiana.

Sam holds degrees from Purdue University, where he was awarded Indiana’s Outstanding PLTW Teacher of the Year 2006, from Indiana State University and Vincennes University.

Richard Grimsley, Associate Vice President, says of Sam, “He brings a wealth of practical experiences and has been recognized for his professional achievements. We are pleased that he is joining us on a full-time basis to contribute to our curriculum development and professional development initiatives.”

Grimsley also announced two other additions to the PLTW Program office staff.  Tonya Lawrence joins PLTW as its Coordinator for Curriculum.  She will be working extensively in support of both the K-12 Engineering and Biomedical Sciences curriculum development and revision processes.  Laura Welter’s new role as Coordinator of Professional Development will focus on support of all teacher and school counselor training initiatives, including collaboration with university and colleges partners in the implementation of summer training institutes.

“Both Tonya and Laura bring significant business experience to PLTW, which will add significantly to the daily operations and response of PLTW to our network of teachers, schools and universities.  We are delighted that they have joined our staff,” added Grimsley.
