What steps might you take in actually running the first meeting of the Partnership Team?
Extend an invitation to people who might be interested in being on the Partnership Team to attend an informational meeting and follow these seven steps:
- Provide an overview of the purpose of the Partnership Team.
- Discuss the key elements and answer questions.
- Log-on to the pltw.org site and scroll through the information on Forming a Partnership Team.
- Suggest/brainstorm several topics for the first meeting and establish a date and location. For example, if your school has not yet been certified, show and discuss the criteria which can be found under Certifications on the PLTW website. What are the advantages of completing the process in learning about the program, about identifying areas of strength and of challenges? How is your school doing in encouraging girls and minority students to sign up for the program and to remain in it? How about developing a list of area engineers who could be invited to participate in the mentoring component of the PLTW program?
- Provide an idea of how many times the PT would meet and for how long.
- Provide an opportunity for those who are interested in becoming members of the PT to sign up.
