PLTW Announces New  Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation (SME-EF) Program Consultant

Project Lead The Way is proud to introduce to you Ms. Laurie Maxson, Director of Career & Technical Education, Colorado Springs District #11, Colorado who will be working as a consultant with Project Lead The Way and the SME-EF (Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation) program. Her primary focus will be the proliferation of the SME-EF/PLTW engineering summer camp model for middle schools students, so successfully piloted this past year in California and New York.

The Science, Technology & Engineering Preview Summer (STEPS) Academy is a co-ed day camp that provides fun and challenging hands-on high tech projects using curriculum developed by Project Lead The Way. STEPS Academies are designed to help middle school students explore careers in science, technology, and engineering and link them directly to the PLTW Gateway to Technology program.

In the near future Laurie will be calling upon you for information and support as she leads this initiative which is directed at increasing student interest in engineering, and sustaining that interest by growing the number of middle schools in the PLTW Gateways To Engineering program. You may contact her with your interest at LMaxson@pltw.org.

Ms. Maxson currently serves on the Project Lead The Way National Advisory Board and has been a strong advocate of the PLTW program for many years.
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Maxson in this new endeavor
