Project Lead The Way selected as one of the “Best
Practice” STEM Education programs
Project Lead The Way
has been selected as one of the “Best Practice” STEM Education
programs to be showcased at the upcoming
STEM (science, technology, education and math)
Education Diversity Forum that
Bayer will host on Thursday, September 28 in Washington, D.C.
Titled
“Bridging the Diversity Gap in Science and
Engineering: Introducing STEM Industry to K-12 Best Practice Programs,”
the one-day forum will introduce to the invited STEM company representatives
in attendance your and a number of other programs that have a proven track
record of helping girls and underrepresented minorities to participate and
achieve in STEM.
The forum comes at an
increasingly critical moment. As you know, one of the biggest challenges
the United States faces today is the dwindling number of scientists and
engineers we produce at a time when we also face increasing competition for
this STEM talent from other countries. At the same time, there exists in
this country a vast untapped talent pool in those Americans who
traditionally have been underrepresented in STEM fields, including women,
African-Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans.

|
The ultimate purpose of the
forum is to further develop this talent pool by encouraging the STEM
corporate community to support your and other Best Practice programs.
The forum will consist of three
panels, each featuring roughly five to eight panelists. They include: Best
Practice Elementary STEM Education Panel; Best Practice Secondary STEM
Education Panel; and, Education Partnerships: What Businesses Can Expect.”
It is our pleasure to invite
you to be a panelist on the Best Practice Secondary STEM Education Program
Panel and share your program with those in attendance.
The panels will be moderated by
Dr. Mae C. Jemison. In addition to being the nation’s first
African-American female astronaut, a chemical engineer, physician and
Bayer’s longtime national spokesperson for our award-winning
Making Science Make Sense®
program, Dr. Jemison is also the CEO of an emerging STEM company. All of
this assures that she will bring a very unique perspective to the
discussions.
Bayer is delighted to offer you
an honorarium in Washington, D.C.
the afternoon of Wednesday, September 27. That evening, we invite you to
attend a reception and dinner for panelists.
We hope you will accept this
invitation. We will call you soon to see if your schedule will permit you
to do so, or please feel free to contact us with any questions.
Thank you for your
consideration.
Sincerely,
Rebecca
