Newberry and Malstrom Lead PLTW Curriculum

Project Lead The Way announces the appointment of Pam Newberry as Director of Curriculum for Pre-Engineering and Carolyn Malstrom as Director of Curriculum for Biomedical Sciences. Both have led PLTW’s efforts in developing new and strengthening existing curriculum in its ever expanding program.

“It has become clear that PLTW’s expansive curriculum development and the addition of Biomedical Sciences require PLTW to designate leaders in each area,” said Richard Grimsley, Associate Vice President. “Pam’s exemplary work in implementing our curriculum model and in working closely with Carolyn has resulted in a unique collaborative model of engineering and the Biomedical Science curriculum writing process.”

With an expanding number of curriculum writers, Pam Newberry also assumes the development of Virtual Academy lessons.  “It seemed a natural progression with Pam’s increased efforts to strengthen the ties between curriculum and essential teaching skills to have her oversee the Virtual Academy,” concluded Grimsley.

Carolyn Malstrom becomes Director of Curriculum for Biomedical Sciences, PLTW’s newest curriculum area. Previously, Carol was Associate Director of this program.

“In the short time that PLTW announced the addition of Biomedical Sciences to our national program, Carolyn has moved quickly to organize PLTW’s efforts in this area,” says Richard Blais, Vice President.  “Her biology background, classroom teaching, and leadership skills provide a rich source of talent to oversee the Biomedical Sciences curriculum development process,” said Blais.
