Donna Scribner Accepts Position with Virtual High School Inc.

Donna Scribner, Director of Online Learning with Project Lead The Way, has accepted a position as Chief Learning Officer with Virtual High School, Inc. As CLO and a member of the Administrative team, she will be responsible for the development and management of strategic learning initiatives, management of the VHS online professional development and course delivery, and coordination of curriculum development.

“I know that without my time at PLTW, this opportunity would never have been possible, and for that I am eternally grateful,” Donna said.

Dick Blais, Vice President of PLTW, congratulates Donna on her new position and knows she will be an outstanding team member of VHS as she has been since she joined PLTW years ago.

“Donna from the day I hired her exhibited a commitment to giving her professional best in everything she did,” Blais said. “Before our own Virtual Academy, which she created, wrote, developed, and promoted, along with CJ Amorosa, Donna traveled around the country providing workshops as part of our early approach in offering professional development to teachers. Those were very busy, challenging days, which required a lot of good humor and perseverance, as Donna left her New Hampshire home to board another plane almost every week,” Blais continued.

Richard Grimsley, Associate Vice President, believes the dramatic use of PLTW’s Virtual Academy, speaks volumes about the impact Donna has had on teachers’ ongoing professional development.

“Anyone who has used the VA knows that Donna is the consummate teacher who modeled good teaching habits, presented complex material in an achievable manner, and made teachers feel confident that they had a colleague in Donna who was there to provide help,” Grimsley said.

“The normal thing to say is that Donna will be missed. Those words just do not adequately reflect the depth of our feelings of loss as she leaves our team,” said Dick Blais.

“PLTW is the national leader in pre-engineering in large part because of Donna’s vision, her candor and ability to push the cutting edge ahead of us in professional development and curriculum development, and her ‘can do attitude.’ We know Donna will carry these and other personal and professional skills to her new position, even though we wish she would remain with PLTW,” Blais concluded.
