Bobrischew Named Director of Product Sales: Lisa Bobrischew has been named Director of Product Sales for Project Lead The Way.  She will be responsible for oversight and control of all instructional materials and supplies sold to schools in support of all Project Lead The Way programs, including engineering and biomedical sciences.

New Staff At PLTW: Sam Cox Joins PLTW - Project Lead The Way is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Cox to its national curriculum development staff in October as an Associate Director of K-12 Engineering Curriculum.
Tonya Lawrence joins PLTW as its Coordinator for Curriculum. She will be working extensively in support of both the K-12 Engineering and Biomedical Sciences curriculum development and revision processes.
Laura Welter’s new role as Coordinator of Professional Development will focus on support of all teacher and school counselor training initiatives, including collaboration with university and colleges partners in the implementation of summer training institutes. Read the full announcement


PLTW Announces New  Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation (SME-EF) Program Consultant Project Lead The Way is proud to introduce to you Ms. Laurie Maxson, Director of Career & Technical Education, Colorado Springs District #11, Colorado who will be working as a consultant with Project Lead The Way and the SME-EF (Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation) program. Her primary focus will be the proliferation of the SME-EF/PLTW engineering summer camp model for middle schools students, so successfully piloted this past year in California and New York. Newberry and Malstrom Lead PLTW Curriculum: Project Lead The Way announces the appointment of Pam Newberry as Director of Curriculum for Pre-Engineering and Carolyn Malstrom as Director of Curriculum for Biomedical Sciences. Both have led PLTW’s efforts in developing new and strengthening existing curriculum in its ever expanding program. Read the full announcement


Richard Liebich, PLTW CEO,  has been recognized by the Manhattan Institute with its Social Entrepreneur Award for 2006 for Project Lead The Way. The Manhattan Institute’s Social Entrepreneurship Initiative is proud to announce the five winners of its Sixth Annual Social Entrepreneurship Award. The Initiative honors nonprofit leaders who have found innovative, private solutions for some of America’s most pressing social problems with little or no government financial aid. To Members of the Project Lead The Way Partnership Network,
Project Lead The Way (PLTW) and Autodesk, the world leader in software innovation and integration for business and education, are pleased to announce a new and dynamic partnership which will contribute significantly to nation’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education priority. The new agreement makes PLTW the Autodesk K-12 education strategy and the immediate beneficiaries of the arrangement will be the schools, teachers, and students in the PLTW network.

Project Lead The Way Announces New Positions: Cynthia “Crickett” Thomas-O’Dell and Joanne Hendrick will continue in their current roles with Project Lead The Way with new titles effective July 1, 2006. Crickett, Coordinator for School Relations for the Project since 2004, will be Director of School Relations and Marketing. 
Joanne Hendrick came to Project Lead The Way in January 2006 as a secretary for senior management.  She continues in those responsibilities with the new title of Executive Secretary.  Read the full announcement

Donna Scribner Accepts Position with Virtual High School Inc.
Donna Scribner, Director of Online Learning with Project Lead The Way, has accepted a position as Chief Learning Officer with Virtual High School, Inc. As CLO and a member of the Administrative team, she will be responsible for the development and management of strategic learning initiatives, management of the VHS online professional development and course delivery, and coordination of curriculum development.

EAA AND ‘PROJECT LEAD THE WAY’ COLLABORATE TO BOOST AEROSPACE ENGINEERING, FLIGHT EDUCATION: EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — (April 10, 2006) — A new collaboration between the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and Project Lead The Way (PLTW) will provide comprehensive pre-engineering education programming to more than 1,600 schools nationwide to advance aerospace engineering and flight education.

Thomson Delmar Learning and Project Lead The Way Collaborate on New Pre-Engineering Curriculum -  New Textbook Series to Support Pre-Engineering in High Schools and Middle Schools Delmar Learning, part of the Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC), today announced plans to work with Project Lead The Way Inc. (“PLTW”), to publish a series of high school and middle school textbooks that will be aligned with PLTW’s pre-engineering curricula.  Under the agreement, Thomson Delmar Learning will produce either adaptations of existing texts or wholly new works that, when combined with the PLTW curriculum materials, form integrated learning packages for nine courses.  Read the full bulletin

Extreme Makeover and a Future Engineer:
Millions who watched Extreme Makeover had their spirits lifted when young Charlie Dolan saw his 21st century bedroom designed by PLTW teacher Paul Wahnish and his students and when Charlie himself discovered the engineering scholarship from the University of South Florida with contributions from Project Lead The Way. Eva Fernandez, PLTW Affiliate Director, represented the USF at a recent luncheon on May 11 and formally presented the scholarship to Charlie and his family.
