Located in historic Norfolk, Virginia, the Old Dominion University campus stretches from the Elizabeth River to the Lafayette River.
The university was founded in 1930 as a division of the College of William and Mary and is now one of only 101 public universities with a Carnegie/Doctoral Research-Extensive distinction.

The Frank Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University promotes the advancement of engineering knowledge, both in creation and dissemination, by providing successful graduates and a continuously improving learning environment to its constituents, while maintaining high ethical, multicultural and global standards.

The curriculum of the college blends traditional laboratory and classroom instruction with real industry projects. The College's Enterprise Centers provide additional links to a broad spectrum of cutting-edge applied engineering research conducted by a nationally recognized faculty.

College Credit For High School Students
Secondary school students in Virginia may receive college credit in Old Dominion University's Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Engineering Technology programs for eligible PLTW courses:

  • Any PLTW Course = Engineering Fundamentals Engn 110
  • Any PLTW Course = Engineering Fundamentals Engn 111
  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing = TBA
  • Digital Electronics = TBA

*Additional, possible credit scenarios are to be determined.
Students can receive credit by completing each PLTW course with an average of "B," by having been enrolled in a PLTW-certified high school, by scoring a 70% or higher on the PLTW college credit exam, and by meeting Old Dominion University academic eligibility requirements.
