Arkansas Tech University, founded in 1909, is a multi-purpose, state-supported institution of higher education dedicated to providing an opportunity for higher education to the people of Arkansas and to serving the intellectual and cultural needs of the region in which it is located. The University offers a variety of programs committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate studies. Specialized studies are offered within several areas of emphasis: business, professional education, liberal and fine arts, physical and life sciences, information technology, engineering, and applied sciences. Arkansas Tech University offers baccalaureate degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering, an associate of science degree in nuclear technology and a masters degree in engineering.

The Arkansas Tech University joined PLTW in 2003.

College Credit For Summer Training
Teachers may receive Arkansas Tech University Graduate Credit for courses offered at the ATU PLTW Summer Training Institute by earning a passing grade in the PLTW course, enrolling in the graduate program and paying all applicable tuition and fees.

College Credit For High School Students
Secondary school students in Arkansas may receive college credit in Arkansas Tech University's Mechanical and Electrical Engineering programs for eligible PLTW courses:

  • Introduction to Engineering Design = 2 credits - for Engineering Graphics (MCEG 1002)
  • Principles of Engineering (POE) = 2 credits for Introduction to Engineering (MCEG 1012 or ELEG 1012)

By completing each PLTW course with an average of "B," by having been enrolled in a PLTW-certified high school, by scoring a 70% or higher on the PLTW college credit exam, and by meeting Arkansas Tech University academic eligibility requirements.
