Announcing the new PLTW Learning Management System

What can Project Lead The Way do to enhance the learning experience for students and support more efficient and effective use of teachers' time?
| || |
Provide a platform that better facilitates student learning and increases flexibility to access online resources.

On July 8, 2013, teachers will have access to the new PLTW Learning Management System (LMS). Called Canvas, this cutting-edge product from the company Instructure will enable teachers to focus on what's important -- student learning! Teachers will be able to manage the curriculum and student progress, and students will experience PLTW like never before.
What can the LMS do?
Curriculum, assessment, and professional development resources will now be available through the LMS. Canvas is a cloud-based software with features including:
- Student Access: Students can log in to the LMS, complete activities, and submit assignments for grading.
- SpeedGrader: Teachers can grade student work in a fraction of the time and provide personalized feedback to their students.
- Analytics: Canvas’s analytics tools allow teachers to view comparable metrics across their students and classes so they can look for trends like missing assignments or content areas needing extra review.
- Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) will allow teachers to access readiness, assessment, and other technical documentation, as well as foster collaborative learning among colleagues through forums, conferences, and conversations.

What do I need to do now?
PLTW Principals and Teachers: Watch your email for additional information, including how to sign up for an instructional webinar, "Getting Started with the PLTW LMS."
Other enhancements are coming soon.
Promotional, Print, and Logo Materials: A new website will provide PLTW schools with access to on-demand brochures and other materials they need to promote their PLTW programs to parents and students. This site will streamline the ordering process and also contains logo templates which schools can use for further material customization.
